The AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification is an opportunity for people who are beginning to work with cloud solutions and services or are new to AWS to prove knowledge of cloud concepts, AWS services, workloads, security and privacy, as well as AWS pricing and support.

Candidates should be familiar with the general technology concepts, including concepts of networking, storage, compute, application support, and application development. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner can also be used as a starting path to prepare for other AWS role-based or specialty certifications, to build your career in cloud and AWS.

Skills measured:

  • Explain the value of the AWS Cloud;
  • Understand and explain the AWS shared responsibility model;
  • Understand security best practices;
  • Understand AWS Cloud costs, economics, and billing practices;
  • Describe and position the core AWS services, including compute, network, database and storage services;
  • Identify AWS services for common use cases.

Notes about the exam:

  • You will have 90 minutes to complete the exam;
  • You should expect 65 questions in your exam;
  • Your results for the exam are reported as a scaled score of 100 – 1000. A passing score is 700 or greater. As this is a scaled score, it may not equal 70% of the points. A passing score is based on the knowledge and skills needed to demonstrate competence as well as the difficulty of the questions;
  • If you choose an incorrect answer, you simply won’t earn the point for that question or part. No points are deducted for incorrect answers;
  • Your score report could contain a table of classifications of your performance at each section level. The exam uses a compensatory scoring model, which means that you do not need to achieve a passing score in each section. You need to pass only the overall exam;
  • Some questions on the exam may not be included in your score. These questions are used to gather data to update and improve the quality of each exam.
